From Koh Tao, you can book a day trip to Ang Thong National Marine Park — a stunning cluster of 42 islands just about 1 hour away by speedboat. Start with a kayak trip weaving through dramatic limestone cliffs, then hike the short but steep trail to the famous Emerald Lake (Talay Nai). Pack good shoes — the viewpoint is a 20-minute climb, but the panorama is worth it.

Once you land, you’ll find yourself in a completely different vibe: larger, busier, but full of hidden gems if you know where to look. Spend the morning visiting the Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai), then head to the quieter Silver Beach for some swimming and sunbathing.
